Friend of the Court Enforcement Team
(FOC Team)

The FOC Enforcement Team is a specialized unit, designed to locate, track down and arrest individuals that DO NOT COMPLY with court orders (warrants), pertaining to Family Court issues. A lot of these subjects also have outstanding Felony, Criminal and Misdemeanor warrants.

The teams operate just like Fugitive Teams. Primarily working plain clothes, deputies work a flex shift; days, nights, weekdays, weekends or holidays. Operating primarily in Macomb, Wayne, Oakland and St Clair Counties, they have also traveled greater distances for an arrest. The majority of our focus is Macomb County. We arrest people at work, at their favorite bar, at home, or even while driving their car. You can run, but you can't hide. The Teams job is to track people down and arrest them; whatever it takes to get the job done.

This added pressure often encourages the individual to turn themselves in to the Friend of the Court and voluntarily resolve the warrant. As of October 2009, there have been 464 warrants voluntarily resolved.

In 2008, the Enforcement Team resolved over 2,500 outstanding warrants and collected over $26 million dollars in arrearages owed to custodial parents. As of October 2009, there have been over 2,350 warrants cleared with an arrearage of $23,460,000 collected. If not for the determination of these Deputies, there would be a lot of parents/children not receiving their court ordered child support.

In conjunction with the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, Non Custodial Parents who have a high arrearage and have been arrested several times for Non Support are being charged with a 4 year felony. As of October 2009, 46 arrests have been made for Felony Non Support. 65 arrests were made in 2008.

The Enforcement Team receives 66% of their funding from the State of Michigan.

The Enforcement Team works with and assists many child support agencies in the performance of their duties, often going to many places and dealing with all sorts of people. What this means is we deal with all types of people under all sorts of circumstances.
