The Macomb County FOC Enforcement Team is a specialized unit, established to locate and apprehend individuals who have not complied with court orders issued by the Macomb County Family Court Division. Many of these individuals also have additional outstanding Felony and Misdemeanor warrants. The FOC Enforcement Team receives 66% of their funding from the State of Michigan. The FOC Enforcement Team is comprised of five Deputy Sheriff’s assigned as Detectives/Investigators supervised by a Sergeant.
The Macomb County FOC Enforcement Team primarily works undercover in plain clothes. These detectives work an assortment of shifts including weekends and holidays. They operate primarily in Macomb, Wayne, Oakland and St Clair Counties with the majority of the unit’s focus in Macomb County. These arrests occur at a variety of locations including at home, work, while driving and even occasionally at the local bar or restaurant. Additionally, numerous arrests have also been made on individuals (friends/relatives) that have aided in harboring these fugitives and/or interfered with the investigations. Often individuals turn themselves in to the Friend of the Court and voluntarily resolve their warrants. In 2010, there were 779 warrants voluntarily resolved by this initiative. In 2010, the Enforcement Team reviewed over 2,900 outstanding warrants, valued at over $21 million dollars in past due child support. The Sheriff’s Office working in conjunction with the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office have a special interest in delinquent offenders who owe large sums of back child support and have been previously arrested for Non Support. These individuals are now being charged with a four (4) year felony. In 2010, 52 individuals were arrested under this enhanced charge.
